A little help?

OK, please don't laugh if you are a great cook, but I have been trying relentlessly to successfully poach an egg. Anyone out there who gets it, please pass it on! I've been struggling for YEARS with this! Thanks,

I'm no good at poaching eggs. BUT, I've seen it done a million times over here at the Waffle House...anyone ever been to one of those dives?

They always add about 1 tablespoon vinegar to their pan of water, and the water is never boiling. Just before they drop the eggs in it looks like they turn the burner almost off.

That's the most I can help. Anyone else?
